(WRITER, DIRECTOR, EDITOR, PRODUCER)
Tim Harrison has been toiling away behind the scenes of many a movie. His first taste of "the big time" came when he got a job doing craft service on the motion picture Michael. He worked diligently and was so well liked on set that he was invited to go with the production crew to Chicago and was even given a bit part as "Slacker Number 1." It was this experience that taught him how sets work and the politics involved therein. He has observed that a set is a set. No matter how big, no matter how small. And a certain amount of professionalism is needed in order to coordinate the effort of making a film.
He did storyboards for two of Alex Holdridge's award winning movies, Wrong Numbers and Sexless. Harrison has also worked as a cinematographer on The Reaper, an audio operator on All Night Boogie, a co-writer on Empty Pockets, an editor on Wrong Numbers and a general advice guru for many of his friend’s projects, no matter how big or how small. He has done many a favor for Austin filmmakers without a hint of complaint. Firm in his belief that when talented people need help, they ought to get it.
Harrison has done numerous short works of his own, his first such project was with a young Brian McGuire and the two became fast friends, working on various projects together over the years.
He currently works as a director for the six and ten p.m. newscasts at the CBS affiliate in Austin, having worked his way up the ranks from a camera operator, a tape operator, a master control operator and a technical director. Preparing and executing two thirty minute shows a day for 6 years has given him discipline and knowledge that translates directly into guerrilla film directing.
In his spare time, Harrison is locally known as a cartoonist, doing a comic strip, spot illustrations and a cover from time to time for the local paper The Austin American Statesman. His website is www.awshaddup.com, which features many of his comics as well as sketch comedy clips that he co-wrote / directed / edited and co-starred in with Don Collier and Andy Garibay.
